I hurt. I mean, yeah, my ankle has been bothering me. But what really hurts are my left hip, upper back, and shoulders.
I should probably remind you all that I had shoulder surgery several years ago (right side) to tighten my loose ligaments. Well, all my ligaments are loose like that, not just that particular shoulder. It just happened that I'm a righty who has to hold heavy things up for work, so I got the surgery to help me balance the burden of holding stuff. That said, my left hip might need its own surgery before this is all over.
When you normally move your leg you do a lot of ankle-turning. I know this because I cannot turn said ankle. If I want to lean my foot to the left, my hip turns. To the right, hip. If I can't lie flat I bring in my left leg like a half-butterfly and that's all stretching out my hip. Said hip doesn't want to work anymore. Every time I lift the leg to move it onto the couch or to the floor or in and out of the car it complains. And by "complains" I mean makes a "clunk" and quickly pops in and out of the socket. It's the sound Nicole always hated to hear coming from my shoulder before surgery. The hip is so whiny, and it's getting my left knee in on it too. Stop your bitching, joints! At least you have all your bones in one piece!
The crutching isn't helping my poor shoulders any either. My back has been really bothering me, and I'm having a lot of trouble stretching it out. Back stretches are my favorite so I know the gamut, but many seem to rely on pressing my feet or ankles into the floor, which is not an option. Those that don't require me re-breaking my ankle aren't really getting at the places that hurt. I don't know why. I told Jason we need to get a barrel for me to lie on top of. He reminded me that our tiny apartment has no room for a barrel. Unfortunately, I passed up a groupon for a massage because I felt bad spending money when I'm about to be on half-pay (disability- a topic for another day). Now I'm regretting being so damn frugal.
Also hurting is my right foot. I've been getting massive foot cramps lately as I've pushed myself to be more and more mobile and pushed my standing/crutching endurance. It gets to the point where I absolutely positively MUST sit down or I feel my whole leg will give out. Not because I'm tired (although I am, but I can take tired). It's because the muscle cramps are such that they are paralyzing, and I can't do anything to alleviate the pain while standing.
/end whine.
